Can I upload Zoom or Teams recordings to Ovida?
Last updated: May 24, 2026
Why third-party recordings aren't supported as a standard service, and what enterprise options exist.
Short answer: No, not as a standard service. Uploading third-party recordings of real conversations raises privacy and data quality issues that Ovida can't manage reliably.
There is an enterprise API option for organisations that can prove consent processes, covered below. If you want to upload your own audio file (for example, a recording of a phone coaching call), see "How do I upload a meeting recording?" instead.
Why we don't support third-party recordings by default
Privacy and GDPR compliance
When a recording is uploaded from a third-party platform, Ovida has no way to verify that everyone in the recording gave informed consent for AI analysis. GDPR requires informed consent and the right to deletion — both of which depend on every participant being identifiable and reachable.
When meetings are held in Ovida directly, both parties are Ovida users. They've accepted the data processing agreement, they can see and manage their data, and they can request deletion. Uploaded third-party recordings break that chain.
Recording quality
Ovida's analytics require very high-fidelity recordings to work well. The video and audio quality from platforms like Zoom and Teams isn't sufficient for accurate transcripts and the deeper analysis Ovida provides.
The enterprise API option
For Enterprise customers, Ovida offers API-based bulk upload of third-party recordings. To use this option, your organisation needs:
Auditable consent processes. Clear, documented evidence that every participant in every uploaded recording has given informed consent.
Technical resources. A development team capable of integrating with our API.
If your organisation meets both criteria, contact support@ovida.org to discuss enabling this.
